Belle Meade Plantation
Belle Meade Plantation is located in one of the richest towns in America (per capita).
Belle Meade is just minutes from downtown Nashville and is home to much of Nashville's old money. Well, there's a lot of new money there too.
The plantation itself goes back to some old money. It operates as a museum and people come from all over the world to visit and learn its history.
Most weddings take place in the garden behind the mansion. There is also a Carriage House next the garden where receptions typically take place.
Belle Meade began in 1807 founded by John Harding. It means "beautiful meadow." Within this city is Belle Meade Mansion which is actually six acres of beautiful land on the west side of Nashville with several buildings on the property.Of course, the farm itself was much bigger originally.
The focus however is the mansion at the center of things. It was constructed in 1853. It has been the home of 5 generations of the Harding and Jackson families.
The Belle Meade estate was a thoroughbred breeding nursery and they trained championship racing horses.
In addition to regular tours which give you the full history and details of this historic place, there is a museum store on the grounds where you can purchase some good ole fashion ham and a restaurant in case the tour gives you the hungries.
The grounds of Belle Meade Mansion provide a unique and grand location for Nashville weddings. The Carriage House where you can see some old carriages is where receptions take place. And it is now air conditioned!
